BELINDA SMITH - RESEARCH OFFICER

Belinda received her Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Science) degree from the University of Canberra. After working in multidisciplinary pathology roles at Dubbo Base Hospital and Cape Hawke Private Hospital, Belinda relocated to London and undertook specialist studies in Clinical Chemistry whilst working as a senior scientist in the National Health Service.

Belinda joined the RNSH Department of Hand Surgery & Peripheral Nerve Surgery as the Research Officer in 2006, assisting with the coordination of research projects for the Consultants, Fellows and Registrars across a wide range of topics, including both laboratory and clinical studies. She organises ethics applications, the scientific and clinical methodology, laboratory work and clinic assessments, and the analysis of results through to publication.

Belinda also acts as the Administrative Secretary for the International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (IFSSH), a Federation of 60 hand surgery societies from 58 countries.
